What’s on

R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is an important day to raise awareness for mental health and remind everyone to check in on those around you. We got together for a pizza lunch and chats.

The majority of our students, and many of our staff, are living away from home, from their family and close friends which we know can be difficult at times. This is why it’s so important to ask your friends, classmates, colleagues, housemates “Are you ok?” and really listen.

Goodlife Guest Speaker

We welcomed Dean from Goodlife Fitness to come and talk to our fitness students about working in the industry and a breakdown of what working as a PT would look like.

Costs of accommodation will vary depending on your chosen state, city, and type of accommodation. The cost of living calculator on the Study Australia website helps students calculate their expenses.

Staff Spotlight

Staff Spotlight - Laura Parra 1

LAURA

Fun fact: I’ve travelled to 28 countries despite being terrified of flying

Fave cuisine: Colombian & Japanese

Nationality: I am Colombian!

Fave pastime/hobby: I absolutely love spending time camping (often with a beer in hand)

Job role & how Laura can help you: As assistant Campus Manager of our English campus, I am here to listen to students’ concerns and feedback to help improve their campus experience. My goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive campus where learning English is not only effective but also fun. While I work behind the scenes, you will often find me at the reception or walking around the campus, checking in on how your course or life is going.

Staff Spotlight - Larissa 1

LARISSA

Fun fact: I love the fashion world! I can recognise brands and trends easily, and I find it fun to explore the stories and history behind the big fashion houses

Fave cuisine: This is a tough one, but I’d say Japanese food. In particular, I love washoku, which is traditional Japanese cuisine that focuses on balance and seasonal ingredients. And by Japanese food, I mean authentic dishes—not only sushi!

Nationality: I’m Brazilian, but I’ve called Japan home since I grew up there from the age of 2

Fave pastime/hobby: I enjoy colouring books and painting on canvas. I also like staying active, and recently cycling has become my new hobby

Job role & how Larissa can help you: I’m one of the Student Services Officers, at our English Campus, in charge of activities. I lead the afternoon activities, interact with students to get to know you better, and I’m always ready to help with any questions you may have
